Sarah Adams' Professional Portfolio
I am a graduate of Harding University with a BA in Early Childhood Education and Spanish. I was just recently hired to teach at Westbury Christian School for my first year of teaching. I will be teaching kindergarten, and I'm thrilled to start in the Fall! I did my student teaching in kindergarten and in fourth grade in Arkansas, and I will be certified to teach in Arkansas.
Educational Philosophy
I believe that children excel when they are guided daily. Teachers have the amazing role of impacting hundreds of lives at a very young age, and I feel as though this is my calling. I have been given the talents that allow me to help, inspire, and encourage young children. I believe that the teacher needs to be the guide, and the classroom needs to be centered more around the students and less around the teacher. A classroom is a community, or a family. I believe that students can achieve what the teacher expects, so the teacher needs to have high expectations for them! Teaching is inspiring children to reach their dreams!

I haven't used Excel much before this class, so this assignment taught me the basics of creating graphs. This can be useful for creating my own data-sets from the students' DRA scores, which means I can teach to their skill levels.

This tool was helpful because it caused me to really search for meaningful links that would help my unit. The students can use this tool to save links that will help them do research for projects.

I found out that the Beeclip web tool was so easy to use, and I wish I had found it earlier! The students could easily use this tool on their own to create a scrapbook collage project.
The Weebly website is a great way for me to stay in touch with my students' parents. They can look at my site to see what I'm teaching and what they can do with their children at home. |

The TEASe is a great method of delivering lesson information. It is fun, engaging, and applicable.I never had the opportunity to edit videos, so I really got to learn through experience with this project.
The collage can be used in a variety of evaluation settings. They can create their own for so many content areas! I learned how to make the border around my whole document! |
